About Me
Corey Zylstra has been in the field of education for over 30 years. She has taught in universities, colleges, school boards, elementary schools, private clinics, community facilities and for government offices. Since specializing in the field of learning difficulties and multisensory language remediation using the Orton-Gillingham approach, Mrs. Zylstra has served on several non-profit boards in executive, board and advisory positions and is a regular conference and workshop presenter world-wide. She has been recognized and accredited as an Orton-Gillingham Master Trainer for the Canadian Orton-Gillingham Academy (MT/ CATT, OG), an Honorary Fellow of the American OG Academy (HF/ AOGPE) and a Certified Dyslexia Therapist through the International Dyslexia Association’s Center for Effective Reading Instruction. Corey is a strong advocate for understanding dyslexia and LDs, and for engaging mediation of literacy skills using structured, sequential, evidence-based instruction. Corey is particularly interested in cultural implications to language learning and mediation of effective teaching of reading and spelling in different cultural environments.
